Minutes of Meeting Nov 10/10

BRITISH SPORTS CAR CLUB OF LONDON 10 November, 2010

Michael called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm and welcomed everyone to the meeting. 21 members were in attendance.

Michael introduced Lyle McLean, a prospective new member and owner of a 1975 TR6

Michael mentioned that a partially rebuilt 1974 MG Midget was being sold for $600, along with all the necessary parts. Contact Michael for information.

Michael noted that there was a car swap meet at Tillsonburg on November 14 but members said there was usually only one British Car dealer there.

The option of a visit to Plunketts’ new Car Museum was brought up and Gord said that Darrel Force was the best liason. Tentative plans to visit in February 2011.

Michael mentioned his desire for a website as a source of information about the club and events calendar. Kent, who maintains our Blog says he gets very little sent to him for uploading to the Blog. Kent remarked that many car clubs maintain a web presence and The Saloon Car Club has links to all Canadian clubs. Colin offered to set up a website instead of a Blog in the hopes that it will better suit the BSCCL’s needs.

At present, one mandate for this web presence is to be a zero cost solution. The publication and cost of The Classic on a bimonthly basis was discussed. The majority of the members present are content that it is worth the cost at this time. Carolyn was congratulated on her continued editorship of this publication.

The status of the 2011 calender was discussed. Carolyn has sufficient photos and it has been left in the hands of Lee Jukes. We anticipate the 60 calenders to be ready for the December meeting and pre-orders were recorded. Cost per calendar will be ~$10.00.

There was discussion of plans for the Christmas meeting. Donations for the Food Bank will be accepted and Willa will be in charge of that, as usual. Food will be pizza and chicken. Members were encouraged to bring their favourite Christmas treat or dessert. There will be a gift exchange for those who are interested, items not to exceed $10. Plan to arrive at 6:00, food should arrive at 6:15.

Michael adjourned the meeting at 8:15 pm.

Secretary for Betty, in absentia

Athena, I presume you want to contact the web guy for the British Saloon Car Club (http://www.bsccoc.ca). Well, that's me, David Wood.

Actually I have shifted our website a bit closer to what you have. My site now opens up on a blog type of page. I have this along with other, more or less fixed, pages for content I want more permanent.

There is a free site, wordpress.com that allows for a blog page and fixed pages that may interest you.

I have set up a site at wordpress.com:

http://yellowbantam.wordpress.com/

I have not maintained it much, I just don't have the time. It does show an example of what you can move to.

If you want to get in contact with me e-mail: bsccocwebguy@hotmail.com

Have Fun!
